Everything worked perfectly (I wanted the qt fronted, much better for my taste)!
Cheers! Paul

I installed lyx1.3.3 on slack 9.1 a few days ago. (i assume you want the xforms frontend)
install tex (/cdrom/slackware/t/tetex--.tar.gz I think) Install xpm, then xforms goto the lyx source dir, then:
./configure --frontend=xforms (qt for qt frontend) make make install (or checkinstall)
checkinstall is probably one of the best apps for slack, it is in /cdrom/slackware/extras/checkinstall. It builds a slackpack from your source dir and installs it. This makes it easy to just do a removepkg lyx, if and when you upgrade.
troubleshooting:
If you are building xforms and xpm from source make sure that the install to the correct directory (usually /usr/lib), run ldconfig after installing them.
make sure that the correct version of xforms is present, i've had issues with that in the past.
Hope this helps

Hi all,Paul Jahshan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 10/31/03 06:26AM >>>
I was trying to install LyX 1.3.3 on Slackware 9.1 but I either got error messages about missing class files not in the right place or getting a below-average GUI. I know it should work because I did the same install on the same machine a few weeks ago and it all worked properly, but I had to re-format and re-install everything again.
I have LyX as tar.gz, xforms, and xpm. Any idea why I can't seem to get
what I once had? Any specific order to install the three files above?
Many thanks, Paul
