It works for me.

  Is this with the Qt UI or the xforms UI? I've become partial to the Qt
version and I will be (trying?) to install LyX-1.3.3 on both a new
workstation and new notebook this weekend.

xforms (qt still have problems with some locale. I'm from Poland so this is critical for me)

PS. You can easyly adjust what frontend is build in lyx.SlackBuild.
