well, what I actually find as a major obstacle is the installation
process itself. I am a sociologist and, although I have some computer
knowledges and skills, I still have to search for tips and tools for
create a self-extract&install package

I mean, in my campus I guess that the creation of this package is going
to mean less work for me rather than install lyx by myself in one
machine after another. And, well, I cannot assume that a install
documentation is enough for a lot of windows users, too much used to
setupokyesyesyesyesok operations.

Indeed, a complete self-extracting package of
miktex/imagemagick/ghostscript/lyx could mean an explosion of lyx
usage in academical environments.
