Herbert,

  Mea culpa! I just looked at the .lyx file and discovered that at least
one, and probably all, are inline format that are centered on a separate
line of their own. Changing the formula type fixed the problem.

  Thanks for making me look at the source. I don't know why it was formatted
as it was, but there we are. I apologize for wasting your time and I thank
Herbert for knowing the cause.
