Someone suggested that I did "select all" and set all the characters to "French". This works but misses the point: I have a large number of quotations in English, and if I set them as French, the punctuation goes wrong (ie it adds spaces before colons and semi-colons and similar things). What I'd like is to be able to get French headings in a document set to "French" that has English quotations in. Any ideas, or am I being too demanding?

I'm writing my phD thesis in French with Lyx, but my headings (Part I, Chapter I) appear in English rather than in French (Premire partie, Chapitre I). My format is "book", the language of the document set to "French". What can I do?
