Problems with accentued letters (they're not displayed) in FC3

Salve, LyX user,

        I'm having some troubles with accentued letters, becouse they are not
displayed in Lyx nor in .ps or .dvi output. 
        I'm currently using now FC3 and I thought those problems might be
related with broken qt package. So, I downloaded qt stuff from kde-
redhat.sf.net *but* still doesn't work properly. See message "problems
with acents in portuguese (latin1) in lyx 1.3.5 with fedora core 3" in
this list.
I've not used LyX for a while and I think the problem stems for recent
updates.

When I run LyX from a terminal and type an accentued word (such as à Ã
and à again), I return that:
        [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ lyx
        sending IMStart with 0 chars to 0x864a958
        sending IMEnd with 1 chars to 0x864a958, text=Ã
        sending IMStart with 0 chars to 0x864a958
        sending IMEnd with 1 chars to 0x864a958, text=Ã        
        sending IMStart with 0 chars to 0x864a958
        sending IMEnd with 1 chars to 0x864a958, text=Ã
and nothing is displayed in LyX when I type that.

What debugging argument should I give Lyx in order to look into deeper?
