I'm running out of arguments.. They've not even tried LyX and knock it
already. Any good arguments why one should use LyX instead of word?
I think, the days of "only LaTeX can have proper logical layout (with
\section instead of bold large text for section titles etc) are gone. Proper
used word will do this too. (And in many cases, using a publisher
provided style will be easier with word than with LyX.)
Ah, "proper use". You have to ask - what is the easiest way for some user to get a heading - change the font size or the style?
What is the easiest way to make a list - use a style or edit by pressing "enter" and sequences of spaces and so on?
Whats the quick way to fix something - using styles or low-level editing?
People doesn't do what's proper, they use what's easy in the
beginning, even if they set themselves up for a nightmare later.
Try changing margins or font size on a list/table created with careful
sequences of spaces and strategically placed linefeeds, for
example.
Lyx makes it easy to do the right thing, and usually harder to work in bad ways. That really pays off sometimes.
