But the file can be processed correctly by latex/bibtex to give you correct
paper output? LyX's BibTeX parser is not very sophisticated, so the
on-screen look may be messed up, but this is orthogonal to the paper
output.

Post the list of 20+ authors here and some wizard will spot the problem.
