I think I missed a turn because I've ended up in a dead end.
Looking over the February thread, and going to the ps4pdf web page, I
downloaded everything there.
Copied ps4pdf.sty to /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/misc/ps4pdf.sty and ran (as
root) 'texhash.'
Edited ~/.lyx/preferences per Herbert's instructions, reconfigured lyx,
shut it down and restarted it. PDF4 appears in the View menu.
In the preamble of fig_crisp_set.lyx I added '\usepackage{ps4pdf}.'
When I try to view the figure using PDF4 I see an error box with,
"Cannot convert file. Error while executing 'ps4pdf fig_crisp_set.tex'. I get
the same error message when I try File -> Export -> PDF4.
What critical step have I missed?
