Boy, Rich, you sure know how to have fun!
Paul,
I wish it _was_ fun.
When I put a figure along side text in Beamer, I don't use
allowframebreaks. I'm assuming here that you want the end result to fit on
one slide. I'm also assuming that you're familiar with the sentiment
expressed by Dolly Parton (I believe while accepting an award) "Well folks,
that's what happens when you try to put ten pounds of mud in a five pound
bag."
I've done columns in the presentation, and use essentially the same
procedure that you described.
In this case, I have definitions and an example on the existing slide. I
want to add a couple of figures to illustrate each definition. If the frame
wants to disperse over 2-3 slides, that's fine with me. I'd like a definition
on the left and the figure on the right. Next slide in the same frame can
have the second definition and second figure. Last slide in the frame would
have a line of standard environment text and an example.
Are these environments incompatible with figure insertion?
If I put the ERT, \includegraphics[height=3cm]{path/to/figure.pdf} in a
certain place, I can generate the pdflatex and view the slide. But, the
figure is too small to be read. If I try to make the figure larger, or place
it between defintions, lyx chokes on the size.
I'm sure that once I understand all the subtleties it will be "intuitive,"
eh?
Thanks,
Rich
