Yes, this is exactly what I was proposing. Same for the Graphics and
Tabular dialogs.

And, by none of what I say I intend to criticize
anybody or any platform or anything in LyX, these are
just my personal preferences.
I am not (yet) a lyx developer but from my experience, they don't take
the critics badly, don't worry.
And, I 'm glad you port the UI to QT 4.1! This sounds
great and I can't wait to see the source code!
Let me clean up my tree and I could send you a snapshot if you want. Or
just wait until it is eventually merged in the main LyX tree.

played with QT4 a little, I liked it and their new
approach to their library)
Me too. I new close to nothing about Qt programming and I managed to do
the port in maybe a week. That talks about the quality of the toolkit.
It is not finished yet but it is usable.

- alt + left-click: select paragraph
- double-click: I don't care
But one size doesn't fit all so all this should be
made configurable.

an expert on GUI design, but I basicly like

windows behavior. I know and respect that not
everybody feels that way. I thought I can modify

copy with some guidance though, as I think I have
enough programming skills.
I already intensively use the shortcuts for math
stuff
(the main reason for me to use LyX), but
especially
for select-copy-paste stuff, a context menu is so
convenient IMHO.
