  This is strange, I remember a recent use of the spell checker where I have 
written something like 17th where the number was in math mode and the spell 
checker detected that th ans asked me to fix it.

  Before 1.4.2 we had a bug where the first word in a document was not 
checked. I think that is fixed now.
