Problem: What should I do to convince LlyX/LaTex to use the Italian
version of the internally generated labels like "Contents" (for TOC),
References (for bib)., etc.?
I thought switching the language to Italian would be sufficient, but
clearly it is not. Hopefully I do not need a complete Italian install
of LyX, as my main working language is English and I need Italian only
occasionally.
Is it LyX or LaTeX or both that is the problem? That is, are you seeing
the English labels in LyX itself or in the DVI output or both?
Both, I suppose, although I am not sure. I explain:
the LaTeX output (pdflatex, actually) has the English labels. LyX
displays "Table of Contents" in its little grey box, but I am not sure
whether it's supposed to show the Italian equivalent when you use a
language other than English, as I have never used a non-English
version of LyX.
