If am not abusing, how to add to the foot line the name of the presentation's author?
See the attached. You put the author's name in as a "short author name" by positioning the cursor at the start of the author field and typing 'optional-insert' in the minibuffer (alt-x to open the minibuffer).
I have to say, though, that all this is much easier if you use one of the supplied themes (or maybe modify one to your specific needs). Several of the themes automatically fill in the short author name in the footline, and some (e.g. Madrid) put the frame numbers in. When I use a theme that doesn't do frame numbers, I create a "short title" by executing optional-insert at the start of the title line, then put \theframenumber in ERT in the short title. (I think there's an analogous command, maybe \thetotalframenumber, to get the total number of frames, but I won't swear to it.)
