First, do you still have the Beamer LaTeX package installed? If you run
'kpsewhich beamer.cls', is it found? Does kpsewhich find xcolor.sty and
pgf.sty?
Assuming Beamer is installed, do you have beamer.layout in one of the
LyX layout directories?
I don't recall any problem with Beamer when I upgraded from 1.4.3 to
1.4.4, other than that I think I might have had to copy beamer.layout
from the old installation to the new one.
