Which installer are you using? If you use the official installer, you
should use lyxc.exe -dbg, instead of lyx.exe -dbg. The latter is a
wrapper for lyxc.exe.
I'm not sure what's official anymore. For 1.5.0rc2, I used an installer
Uwe provided (the small one). It doesn't have lyxc.exe any more;
instead, lyx.bat starts lyxlauncher.exe, which runs lyx.exe. I'm
partial to this approach, because the lyx/lyxc method used a temporary
file to start LyX, which meant that every time I started LyX I had to
grant permission through my firewall (which monitors changes to apps).
