Hey G. and Leandro! Thank to both of you - your tips helped. At least I already new about the bibtex styles that can be set, but it didn't work out. The problem obvisouly was that the bibtex style that I have set via the LyX properties dialog (e.g. abbrvnat) was overwritten by an "ERT" command that was directly written into the document (because I copied the document as a "template" from a fellow student of mine) .. copy-paste-error ;-)
