Uwe,
I have looked at that page and tried to get it to work in Windows using
the instructions but to no avail. Here is what I have done in Linux:
1. I installed the Lyx package from the Ubuntu repository.
2. I installed the culmus fonts using a Debian package. I also have the
ivritex package installed, so I am assuming that the culmus fonts are
available to LaTeX, but somehow it doesn't find culmus.sty when I add
"\usepackage{culmus}" to the preamble. I thought I would try to succeed
with the default fonts.
3. I copied he_cua.bind to /home/[user]/.lyx/bind/ and selected it in
the Tools-Preferences-Look and Feel-User Interface and clicked on save.
I restarted Lyx.
4. I added "\usepackage{hebfont}" to the preamble.
5. I typed in some English, Vietnamese, and Hebrew consonants.
I successfully generated a DVI file this time (I'm not sure what I did
differently), but the Hebrew shows up as just blacked out text. Is this
a font issue?
When I add vowel pointing I still get "Package ucs Error: Please
activate option 'combine.'" and "Undefined control sequence."
Any ideas?
Daniel

Hebrew is another story. I have Googled high and low on using Hebrew
with Latex and Lyx, and none of the solutions have worked for me.
Have you had a lok here?:

This page is not only about Windows and contains some important links.
But the procedure on Linux is similar to that on Windows.
