It seems that you accidentally insert the image to the caption. Have a look at the UserGuide, sec.
4.6 to assure that you inserted it to the right place.
If the problem persists, please send me a SMALL LyX example file and I'll have
a look.
Version of Lyx is 1.5.3 on Ubuntu 8.04.
Does Ubuntu not ship a more recent version of LyX as update?
