If you know the LyX-internal name of the document language, there is a somewhat faster way: select, press M-x or click on the minibuffer line and run the lyx-function language british (replace british with your document language). You can also bind this "language ..." command to a key. However, quite often the language is not changed/reset for text inside insets. Is this a bug? Günter
