Songbook is a LaTeX package, and so it belongs in your LaTeX tree....
I downloaded Songbook_lyx, unpacked it, and also put it in the
same folder.
LyX's layout files need to be in the layout folder of your LyX user's
directory. ...
Thanks, BH! This has gotten me a lot further!
I have put the files in the correct folders, and reconfigured LyX. I
then opened the songbook template, and *some* of the environments are
appearing:
Song, OpGroup, Verse, Chorus, Chrous Note
There's a batch of code such as \Ch{#1}{#2} at the top of the
template, and more code-like stuff where the song title, author, etc.
should be. I'm guessing this is LaTeX markup that LyX hasn't
interpreted.
Out of curiosity, I opened sample-sb.tex in TeXShop (which came with
my TeX installation package). Though I can't read (or work with) the
file, when I hit the Typeset button, I get a Preview with everything
appearing correctly. Most notably, the song's title block comes
through correctly.
When I try to preview the songbook example file, I get errors:
Missing \endcsname inserted.
Missing \endcsname inserted.
Missing number, treated as zero.
LaTex error: Missing \begin(document).
Extra \endcsname.
I do hope I can get this figured out ... hopefully to the point where
my daughter (13, but not a computer geek) can maintain her own songbook.
