Margin alignment again…

Hello,

I still did not get the optical margin alignmeht working. In the  
preamble I have activated the microtype-package:
\usepackage{microtype}
For the margin alignment I found an old notice of mine, that I would  
have to use the option "protrusion" with the factor of max. 1000.  
Could somebody please tell me, how to enter that?
