That sounds bad. I assume you are on Windows. Try to do the following:
1. uninstall LyX _completely_
2. check if Aspell is still installed on your system, if som uninstall first all Aspell dictionaries
and finally the main application.
3. check that there are no Aspell and LyX leftovers in the Windows registry
4. Finally open an Internet connection and reinstall LyX 1.6.5 using the small variant of the
alternative LyX for Windows installer.
The install will reinstall Aspell and all necessary dictionaries. The installer also promts you to
install further dictionaries if you like.
