I have encountered a similar error when I had copied large chunks of
text from word and powerpoint file.

Font LGR/cmr/m/n/10=grmn1000 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found

\textgreek{W}
                                                  .m
I wasn't able to read the size data for this font,
so I will ignore the font specification.
[Wizards can fix TFM files using TFtoPL/PLtoTF.]
You might try inserting a different font spec;
e.g., type `I\font<same font id>=<substitute font name>'.

The offending item was an omega -the \textgreek{W}. I entered the
expression as maths and it all compiled fine.

See where in your file is highlighted when you get this error, and
there is probably an offending character there.
