Hi Stephan, You were perfectly right about the write-protection of the help file. I have started a new file, typed some stupid words and selected one of them before igniting the thesaurus and it worked like a charm. I am still very ignorant in the intricacies of LyX, like the protection of the help files. I have not even thought that this would be the cause (but I was also ignoring that evoking the thesaurus would try to write in the file). Thank you very much for your help.
