I haven't been following this thread, so this might be nonsensical so
just ignore but:
when I use a URL in footnotes and convert it to a PDF document it
works without a glitch, and loads the URL in my web browser.
I don't know about end notes because I don't use them and don't know
how to insert one. So can't test it.
