The top of my preferences file has the following: # LyX 2.1.0dev generated this file. If you want to make your own # modifications you should do them from inside LyX and save. Format 14 I'm referring to the lines starting with '#' as comments. The first non-comment line would be the empty line, but really what I meant was the line containing "Format 14" (the first non-empty non-comment line). Scott
