I regard export>Lyx Archive tar.gz as a very handy feature of lyx. Here are some arguments: 1- if you use many figures and have them among a bunch of others in a directory, perhaps together with various older versions of your lyx file and/or older bib files, such an export gives you just the used stuff of your work. You can open this archive in a new directory thus getting rid of all the stuff not needed anymore. 2- This archive can be send to your coworker, your editor, your publisher in a compressed form. 3- Sometimes you might have included a figure or table from another directory. Archiving it shows you this additional directory and you can copy the outliers into your working directory. Archiving it again gives you the desired one-directory-only. You should of course correct the path of these outliers. In this way all your figures/floats are in the ./xx form and can be open in the directory directly without path issues. One point which led to my inquiry was, that the .bst file was not included in the recent document I am working on. It was, however, included in another document (in that one I used kluwer.bst instead of spbasic.bst, but that is irrelevant, since putting the kluwer.bst in my present document does not give me the style file in the archive either). I tried to find out why this was not working now. Perhaps somebody has an idea?
