Thank you for the tex exchange link here below. I had been trying to use Skim 
as well as the mac Previewer app but unsuccessfully as far as the automatic 
reloading was concerned ( a more apt search term that I was thus far missing). 
Turns out I was missing this bit in Skim which one would have supposed to have 
been enabled by default. 

http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/manual/SkimHelp_39.html 

that is an option to "Automatically update files for external updates."
