This isn't much of an excuse, but latex chokes on it, too. Latex insists
that there aren't enough $ signs in there. I think you need something like
{l>{$}l<{$}.
Unfortunately, reLyX chokes on that. Sigh. The bad news is that this will
be somewhat difficult to fix. We might be able to tell reLyX to ignore
anything that's in a tabular specification statement... but I won't
guarantee that it'll work.
