I Don't fancy it - een there, done that. `-hh' is so much v simpler. If you really need `-v' then why not both, even if it's not documented in short help screen? How much is it going to cost, one integer variable? That's 4 bytes. And the code is going to be the same. Even if they were bith, then it would be one additional instruction. That's maybe another 4 bytes.

@murray.calavera: zstd you quoted also have long help screen, under separate option, which I don't like.
So I don't think that's a good argument.

And yes, manuals are for that but long screen is ok too.
Although I would add dictionary, and match mapping to it as it's useful information and going through info is bit annoying.
