My 200 didn’t want to power down when I swapped the battery for a super
capacitor. Too much voltage so it never shut off. Just two lines across the
screen. I ended up removing the super capacitor and now run it without a backup
battery. That solved my problems. The power circuit is very sensitive to
voltage.

Subject: [M100] model 200 won't power off

The 200 arrived today and it powers up so - yay!

Problem is it won't power off.

Has anyone worked on this problem before with a 200, or it may be a similar
problem in a 100 or 102?

As soon as power is applied - either by AC adapter or batteries - it's turned
on. That right there struck me as odd, but this is my first model 200.

It doesn't respond to the power switch to turn it off.

If you apply the BASIC command POWER OFF it clearly locks up. The clock timer
is still running as you can see it's advanced after you do a reset.

There appears to be a switching transistor that triggers the power off and on
process but that's all I've made out so far doing a quick glance at the
schematic for the power circuit board.

Anyone out there repaired this sort of failure before?

Rick
