thanks.

it's not a biggy as everything else seems to be ok but it would be nice to have one day. If I find time inbetween teaching myself Rust and all the other methods of procrastination I have I might have a mess around with it and see what happens.

Hey All,

I added the FLU file chooser quite a long time ago because it provided many features that the standard/default FLTK File chooser does not.  But it does seem to have some issues, and mabye even moreso with FLTK 1.3 vs. 1.1.10.

Perhaps I should simply revert back to using the default FLTK provded file browser.  Maybe make it a compile option to choose the FLU version.  This is a bit of work though, especially since I have to convert the source tree from CVS to git (sourceforge.net no longer accepts commits to the cvs repository).

Hi,

It sounds like that problem has been around for a while.  While it would be nice to have it compile and run properly under linux, this problem is a bit beyond what I can do at this time, and I guess I'll leave it for someone else to decipher, or maybe I'll re-visit it when I have more time for something like that. As long as I don't try and load anything it seems OK for me as well.  There's always windows!!!

i've gone through all the versions i've built on linux over the years,
or as many as I can find on various harddisks and and usb drives and it
looks like they all exhibit the same problems on the file menu. e.g.
weird file names and either can't load popup or segfault or just chunk
away to themselves happily, do nothing and return to main emu window.

doesn't matter which version of fltk i'd used and whether static or
shared libs so suspect it's a linux thing and/or a FLU thing (tried the
last version of FLU i can find, 2.14 which seems to be a version or two
newer than the version Ken used for VirtualT with no change). As my
patch fixes the warnings/errors for my current gcc version and leaves
the program in the same state as other builds i'm going to leave it for
a while until I have time to dig deeper into the file stuff in FLTK and FLU

Hi,

I've been using fltk 1.3 and haven't tried any older versions.  But I don't even think the mouse works in the file selection window that pops up.  The simulator seems to be hung and I have to kill it.

i just grabbed and tested some older versions of VirtualT that i've
built over the years 1.5, 1.6, 1.7 with gcc versions in the 4.x series
on the raspberry pi and the file menu works, well doesn't work in
exactly the same way e.g. weird file names and the occasional segfault.
i had been using fltk versions in the 1.3.x series in recent years
although I do remember using 1.1.10 at one time so i'll downgrade my
fltk back down to 1.1.10 and see what happens.

Hi,

I've been doing this on x86_64 and it hangs on the file menu all the time with a segfault.  I've been trying gcc 6.4.0 and 4.9.4 but neither seems OK.

the file menu is not great. half the time it segfaults, ok about 80% of
the time it segfaults on the actual load and the filenames can look a
bit weird. but i don't normally do much from the file menu anyway so it
wasn't a big deal for me.

i didn't expect a simple cast  to work 100% of the time but googling the "correct" way to handle the error looked really complicated and was C++
above my pay grade so I took the easiest way out.

Hi,

Did it run OK?  More specifically, could you load a file? The reason I ask is that I've played with that error in Flu_DND.cpp and while I can get it to compile, and it sort of loads OK, but I get errors when I try and load a file.

Haven't really taken it any further.

I was building VirtualT yesterday using gcc 6.3.0 (the default on the
latest raspbian) and  got a couple of warnings and errors. fixed them so that VirtualT would compile cleanly. whether they are "correct" or not I don't know but everything seems ok. In case anyone or Ken are interested
i've attached a patch file to this email
