I wanted to give some test results on my battery pack experience. I run
rechargeable batteries in my NEC and T200 laptops. My NEC units would
run for 40 minutes on fully charged cells and then show the low power
battery light. This due to the voltage difference in the cells. There
was plenty of charge left but the light would always be on.
I opted to use ten 1/3AA batteries in the NEC battery cartridge. This
results in two banks of five batteries with a voltage of 6v instead of
4.8v. I've done a few power cycles now where I charge the batteries up
and see how long I can run. The total capacity is 600mah and I am
getting a little over 7 hours before the low battery light comes on.
>From there I've got about 20 minutes before I get into the danger zone
with loosing data.
Overall I'm pleased with the results. I've got 6 of these cartridges so
I ordered another batch of batteries to build three more. These new
batteries have a bit more capacity which will end up giving me 960mah
per cartridge so I should end up with more run time. I'm not sure if I
will change my 200 since I don't use it much, but it's definitely worth
looking into for those of you using a NEC or modified 100/102.
