What happens if you just plug in the adapters without the usb to serial cable
part? I assume you habe some null modem things in between. Or is your USB to
m100 thing one cable with the usb plug on one end and the db25 on the
other....... I don't see why the usb to serial adapter would pull current from
the serial end. It has 5 v from the usb plug.

Thanks Peter. That is interesting. I've tried the usb/serial cable/adapter on
my M100 and M102. On both, the screen immediately dims and disappears
completely at normal contrast setting; that's at the cold boot menu alone.
Same when I'm in Telcom. I have to turn the contrast up to maximum just to
be able to read the screen. And this happens whether it's connected to
anything or not.

I don't have a "plain" serial cable to try., to see if it's the cable or the
Prolific usb part causing the problem. I do have another usb/serial
cable/adapter (Wyse), which doesn't cause a dimming problem - but that one
isn't recognized by my Dell laptop or desktop. Wyse is now Dell, there are no
Wyse drivers to be found, and Win10 says "no driver available" after doing its
"internet search".

No, my USB/Serial cable *does not* change the display contrast of my T102 or

Neither does my standard serial cable when connected to my Dell WinXP desktop
computer and either the T102 or M100.
