While it was off topic, I never for a second believed it was political.

I would have thought that a political post would be something like "I just
wanted everybody to consider voting for Eric the Aardvark, he is a member
of the <expletive deleted> movement, and has awesome policies about
Quantity Surveying. I really don't like that Ethyl the Anteater seems to
ignore the beauty of Surveying"

I have seen others in newsgroups post poetry before - In fact one of the
favourite poems I have is from the Comp.Lang.Forth newsgroup, where they
take screaming at each other to new and exciting levels to the point where
a bunch of us are only there because its a great read while sitting in a
comfy chair and eating popcorn.

I shall repeat it here:

COLORING
Sarah Hall ManeyColoring
outside the lines
is scary business
Some days
I don't have the courage for it
at all

On my *big, bold* days, though
I let my red crayon
just streak across a line
Then I swirl my purple and orange
out there with it
in perfect freedom
no lines

Coloring outside the lines
is lonely, too
I'm the only one
who doesn't get
a gold star on my paper
The teacher frowns
the kids call me weird
or dumb
or retarded

Why don't they see
that I'm not behind them...
I'm out in front

*running freeoutside the lines*

It would be nice
to have a friend
who colored outside the lines,
sometimes,
too...
Would you?

Kindest regards,

Doug Jackson
