Like most NiCad charging circuit of the day this one is really crude. Just a
current limiting resistor, R165. It looks like R165 is 27ohms. This is a
'time based' charging scheme, i.e. if you leave the AC adapter plugged in
too long you cook the NiCads. This circuit will cook NiMh batteries just as
readily if the adapter is left plugged in too long so there is no greater
danger to using NIMh compared to NiCads.

I was reviewing the T200 service manual and noticed that it could be
configured to recharge NiCd batteries running in the battery compartment by
setting two jumpers.  Does anyone have any information (or thoughts) on
recharging NiMH in the same way?
