The rear polarizer on the LCD would need to be changed from the reflective type to transmissive. The display would also need to be inverted. Then you have to find a way to squeeze the backlight lightguide, LED, etc. into the top of the case and a way to route power to it. Take a look at the early backlight conversion kits for the original Gameboys. I think they called them 'bivert' kits.
