Hi folks -
It's been a long time since posting but all threads are read.
A similar thread will be posted in comp.sys.tandy.
Since last Fall I've been focusing my energies on a bbs. It's been
quite a ride and a thoroughly enjoyable hobby. Haven't been marketing much
and most my users are fellow sysops. Then, of course, the occasional rando
who saw my board on a bbs listing will login once.
The focus of the board, which is mostly ansi, involves pulling online data
and presenting it to the user. Others are doing similar with live weather
info or news from rss feeds. I started with aviation related information
since it is useful to me for flight planning. Currently, speccing out a
sports center with a nice data API to pull live scores and historical
information on different sports.
I'm toying with the option of standing up a separate board focusing on
the m100-200 community. This means no colors, basic ascii characters, and
menus designed with screen limitations as inspiration.
What purpose would it have? Well, those who have online capabilities
will have a board to connect. It would be focused mostly on
displaying online data and modern news. I doubt there would be many
games written from the past, but who knows. I haven't done any research yet,
it was something that entered my mind while working out earlier.
I'd like to know if anyone here has an example board they use that I can
visit and to poke around.
Naturally, the interface would be designed with the screen size limitations
in mind, and I see it as a hobby challenge.
For anyone with networking implemented on your respective systems, would a
bbs interest you?
Things to do:
1. study character sets/encoding for m100, m200
2. look for m100/m200 bbses
3. look for software
4. get my m200 online so i can test
5. get my m200 working, if it isn't. haven't used it in a few months
Thanks,
Daniel
