I made a little imgur album of interesting ads, including the one we are
talking about.
After seeing it again, I misremembered. It was apparently a clear PETG
cover. My mind must have invented the hard leather cover from a bad copy
of the ad.
Anyway, this album shows a lot of interesting items that had been
available including an LCD monitor that was on my own list of projects
to do a while back. I have the large monochrome LCD for it already.

There is a case for PC-8201 that looks kinda like a binder. But it's
really a tight fitting full plywood box, 1/4 inch 3-ply plywood
covered in padded vinyl and with a lid that opens like a book and held
on/closed by snaps.
The lid can be folded underneath either flat or holding the computer
tilted, or removed altogether.

I do store some of my especially valuable or rare equipment in the
waterproof tough cases, though. Too expensive to do that for
everything.
I actually received some items recently that came in those old
caselogic equipment bags and went down a rabbit hole trying to
find modern versions. Camera bags come the closest, but nothing
really close anymore. These bags were nice because they typically
had zippered holes for feeding cables through.
Lastly, when I 2as going through old mags, there used to be a
cover for the Model 100 much like the tablet covers today. The
pictures were too terrible to see how they attached, but it looks
like they attached to the back somehow and folded over the screen,
almost like putting the M100 in a binder. Which actually had me
thinking about grabbing a binder to build a replica. Anyone seen
this cover in the real world?
