Apologies if this has already been addressed.  Either the M-100 user
manual or some article that I found afterwards addresses this: you
press "Enter" to create a new line so that you are not "pushing"
characters after your cursor on the screen; this is what causes the
slowness.

While I don't use the M-100 every day, I don't recall ever suffering
through the sluggishness that you are describing here.  I just create a
new line, backspace to the end of the previous line and keep on typing
at regular speed.  Hope this helps.
