Hi,
I have just done some major refactoring of the m5602 branch.
All the in-kernel frame resizing and frame format conversion has been ripped
out.
Instead, we depend on the libv4l library created by Hans de Goede. This
library performs format conversion in user-space.
The good stuff coming out of this is:
* Better image quality and less cpu utilization
* Support for more applications (skype)
* Less code complexity -> less bugs
The bad stuff is:
* Dependency on libv4l, which hasn't found its way out to all distributions
requiring you to download and compile it manually for support
The ugly stuff is:
* Few applications have native support for libv4l requiring some library
preload tricks.
More information on libv4l can be found on the wiki at
http://m560x-driver.wiki.sourceforge.net/libv4l
The old in-kernel driver is to be found under m5602-old (if I managed to
handle svn right) but won't be more developed.
Please test the new driver out and report any issues you encounter.
Regards,
Erik
