Cheers,
better half of afternoon lost to annoyingly having to mess with combo of
kernel, gspca and m5603c-gspca. No matter.
Compiling with 2.6.31 as packaged in debian package containing kernel
source. Also grabbed latest hg snapshot of gspca according to instructions
in README_INSTALLATION. This is changeset: 13352:222041514c09. Also using
latest of the latest of the m5603c-gspca; that is, rev 504.
First, if one proceeds according to instructions in README_INSTALLATION,
make sure you open Makefile and delete all lines below EXTRA_CFLAGS (that
is, including and after line reading "all:"). Otherwise you get " *** target
file `all' has both : and :: entries. Stop."
Having fixed that, well, I'm kind of stuck here, and since I don't have any
idea about driver workings nor about v4l or gspca apis, I don't dare going
in and fixing this.

Why isn't this driver in gspca tree, and therefore in main linux tree? Once
it compiles, it will probably work well, and not suffer from above problems
('whoever changes the api, fixes the broken drivers', right?)
I just want my webcam to work. Please. It's standing there on the shelf 99%
of the time, and lately I've been studying way too many build systems, APIs,
and such. I really don't feel like studying another one.
Someone? Please?

Ivan Vučica
