I don't know what statistics information you want. I can tell you some-
thing about profiling in m5 full system mode, and hope it can help you.
The profiling in m5 is a timer-driven profiling tool. It derives the 
address of recently committed instruction periodically. When it gets
the address, it will lookup the address in kernel's symbol table. The 
result is the nearest symbol before the address. Profiling tool records
the symbols and dumps them when m5 exits. The profiling period can be
set by m5 command. The boot-up scripts in m5_system are good examples.
The process above is in the full system mode. I don't know how it works
in ES mode. But I think that it will be similar with that in FS mode.
