The problem lies in the careless use of the word Art. People think all kinds of things are Art. It can't be that Art is so inclusive. If everything is Art then what do you call what Artists do? What artists do is distinctly different than what most people do. If you are a bit vague on the differences it leads to all kinds of confusion and discussions off the point. Oil paint is a technology that added to Art. Photography is a technology that added to Art. New digital technologies arrive daily that some artists will use to make Art. Others will use the same technology and not being aware that there is some skill set that results in Art, will become confused and think they have made art because they used a technology used by artists. The obvious example is Oil Paint. Many people who are absolutely clueless use oil paint. The Goodwill stores are full of examples. The trick is to do the homework to find out what the skill set is that produces Art and stop all the small town speculating. --- kevin thurston <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On 5/17/05, Tamara Wyndham <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > wrote: > > "Technology adds nothing to art.
