Has anyone read the book The Art Of War by Steven Pressfield? A friend
recomended it recently. As I a
m in this art funk I'm looking for inspiration. And what the heck is art
anyway? I live in a city of art. I h
aunt the galleries now and then. We have some seriously bad art here too. But I
admit I am an art s
nob as I know what I like and don't like. I grew up across from the Whitney
Museum of modern art in N
YC and boy did I see alot of interesting art, shocking art, weird art, bad art,
good art, and art? My m
other had many, many artists friends and art critic friends. It was always
interesting listening to the a
rt critic, he had many strong ideas. I was often confused by what he thought of
stuff that I would not c
onsider art back then.
And now mail art? Back to what is it exactly? I have recieved many a
correspondence that most w
ould not consider art. But to me it's the effort of communication. This last
year has been hell for me a
s my muse disapeared and my mail art exchanges have dwindled. I can bearly do
anything and it's a
ll I can do to buy some postcards and shoot off a simple hello and thank you.
Recently some w
onderful woman sent me a handmade doll in the hopes that she would inspire my
muse to come b
ack to me. Cross your fingers for me gang!
Peace,
