think Art is the alcoholic asshole next door"
ubiquitous cultural detritus."
> These are interesting and educational controversies in
> a small working class city."

  Hi/
It's my birthday and I took the day off.
Stayed up all night last night drinking and writing.
but I really enjoyed reading your comments here
a few of which I've quoted above. I'm from
another small working class city known to
spasmodically deal with occasional bursts
of such controversy. Where every faction
might feel it lacks the critical mass
to have impact, or for a controversy to matter:
it is only a W_______controversy; just the several
people - no wider implications. It's just 'whatever'
they did. The funny thing is, reading your comments
it pleasently reminded me of home. I like the feel
attempts at arts have in such a place. It removes the
overly weighty false power of controversy, meaning
there's a bit more room to see how it goes.
It can cause lamentation as well,
but it is their's to lament or fully involve in.
And at the end of the day the peas and mashed potatoes
are still there.

John
