If networking is the important component, then mail art is certainly still alive.

Mail art is not dead, it is just under transformation. With the advent of the internet mail art has morphed into different directions and rules. Whatever happened to "guilt free". Mail art is still alive and kicking, and for me mail art is a constantly changing, shifting and free flying effort to reach out and touch someone with my art. I do it for fun, connection and
 friendship.
