don't get a new phone just because your contract isup. Wait until android 4.0 starts appearing and ask to play with a few. If your carrier's not willing to bring both out and show you how to activate the voice output and let you try, you can always take your business elsewhere. They will not want to lose you as a customer. You may not be able to do this at radio shack for example, though you can ask, but through your carrier's retail location. good luck.

You may want to stick with android, especially with the new version 4

apple gets its way, those phones will not be allowed to be imported here, all
this patent nonsense is nuts.

This is the reason why I want to get shot of mine to. I'm never going
back to HTC. Perhaps a switch to Apple is iminent. A decision has to
be made as I'm renewing my contract next month. Symbian is out of the
question as it's very much yesterday's technology and very few apps
are supported by both Mobile Speak and Talks.

I can answer this ;-)
this is because of HTC changing the behaviour of android in such a way that
it interfears with some MA commands. e.g. there are many HTC devices where
you cannot answer or decline calls with slide up / down gestures and so on.
This all because of HTC sense which should help to use the phone more
easily. But this only helps non VI people.

hope that helps.

I defenitely would wait for Android 4.0 devices, as they have much better
accessibility. Wait a few months and then compare what is on the market.

One more hint: Motorola has a build in screenreader on its devices that
allows sliding arround the screen ... but this also is not perfect yet, so
just be patient.
cheers
