Nick, I have the Galaxy Nexus as well, and I find the home screen quite accessible. Did you turn on the explore by touch rfeature in Talkback? If you did, you should be able to go from one item to the next by swiping your finger over the screen from left to right. And to go back you go the opposite direction of course.
When starting the phone for the first time, there are, I think, five home screens. The home screens behave like pages, so you can navigate from one to another by swiping from left to right and then back right to left. And again opposite to go to previous home screen. Talkback will give you some bleeps when changing pages and tell you on which home screen you are. Each home screen has different things on it, but they all have things like phone, people and apps. By double clicking anywhere on the screen when you hear “apps”, you get a list of applications installed on the phone, and again you can go through it by just swiping your finger left to right. Depending on how many apps you have installed, there may be more than one page of them. As for typing, I just use the built-in Android keyboard. It is on the lower part of the screen. It’s very easy to use: just feel across the screen until you hear the character you want to type, and then lift your finger. The character will then be entered. There is even the possibility to enter things by speech. So no need for a third-party keyboard on this phone. I hope this helps, and feel free to ask again whem you have more questions. And please excuse me for my not so perfecdt English, I’m from the Netherlands. I just got my Galacsy Nexus by Samsung yesterday, and I have a lot of questions. If you’re not using MA, what are you using for a home screen? How about a keyboard? On the Jelly Bean 4.1 home screen, I’m finding things like maps, search etc. I’m also finding images with numbers attached such as immage 61, immage 32, immage, 0 ETC. If I double tap them, I’m given additional options, but I have no way of knowing what they are before I double tap. Any help you can offer either here or off list would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
